Records players are cheap, plentiful and easy to come by. I understand if you're living in a shelter or your car; but if you can get yourself a Nintendo Switch, an IPad, a PS4 and a laptop, there is no reason why such a self-respecting Hip-Hop head shouldn't have a record player. Trust me, there's no reason to be intimidated by the various models, features, etc. Unless you're a hardcore DJ, you really don't need to know about types of drives, needles, etc.

Haha! These rappers with same names can be tricky sometimes. What already made me kinda insecure about it was that, as far as I know, Black, Rock & Ron are from Hollis and not Queensbridge, and of course the QB Finest album was meant to showcase Queensbridge rappers. But then again, Nas shouts out Black, Rock & Ron on his new song "A Queens Story".
ReplyDeleteThanks for clearing that up and thanks for the shoutout!
When you mentioned mislabeling of music on file sharing sites, this reminds of something I found on SoulSeek. I was searching for DJ Kool's Let Me Clear My Throat. I found it labeled as DJ Kool Herc.
